Member Benefits Program: Health & Dental CoveragE

Picture
In our 2025 ALL member survey, 184 lawyers shared their workplace realities. Over half of ALL members highlighted dental, extended health, vision, and disability as critical needs, and 54% stated that access to benefits would directly encourage you to continue working as a legal aid lawyer. Our goal is to retain our talented community of legal aid lawyers, and we are delivering on that promise.

How to choose your plan

Your coverage options depend entirely on the size of your organization and your current insurance status. Review the paths below to determine the best fit for your needs:

Individual Coverage (Solo Practitioners / Single Individuals)

If you only need coverage for one person (plus any eligible dependents), you can request a quote directly through our custom link. During the application process, you will be asked if you currently have health coverage or have had it within the past 90 days:

  • Yes (Previous Coverage): You will select a "LINK" plan. These plans are designed to seamlessly transition individuals who are coming off an existing health plan.

BC Rates (Effective April 1, 2026)

  • No (No Recent Coverage): You will select a "ZONE" plan. These plans are ideal for individuals looking to build brand-new health and dental coverage from scratch.

Group Coverage (Firms with 2 or More Employees)

If your organization consists of two or more employees (including lawyers, associates, and assistants), a Group Benefits Plan is highly recommended. Group plans are typically the most cost-effective solution and offer significantly more flexibility and customization options.
To set up a group plan:

  1. Download the Census: Download and save the employee census file to your computer first (avoid typing directly into the online preview).

  2. Submit for a Quote: Once completed, email the file to Michael Jang (Barclay Insurance) at [email protected]. Please make sure to explicitly mention that you are a member of the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers.
